Lisbon, Portugal-based Alan Abrahams has earned a lot of attention lately. His albums as Portable for the Background and ~scape imprints have garnered near-universal acclaim for their deft fusion of tribal rhythms and a modern micro-house sensibility. For his first LP as Bodycode, The Conservation of Electrical Charge, Abrahams focuses on the more DANCEFLOOR-oriented aspects of his style, yielding a gorgeous album born from the belief that the psyche can be unlocked via the body.

Bodycode also came from necessity – while on tour playing club dates, Abrahams was compelled to seek the most engaging sound for that environment. Remarkably adept at its task, Bodycode’s mesmerizing percussive arrangements and subtle melodic flourishes create an immediately engaging sound that lingers in the mind long after the club has closed.

i think that alan abrahams lives in london and comes from south africa. never heard of the boycode alias of his but would like to know more

he is an artist who has developed his own unique sound and that always gains respect

definitely lives in Lisbon, this is a moniker for his more dancefloor music. Full length out on Spectral in July

yes, he lives here in lisbon since january. i just played with him a couple of weeks ago at a party here, he did his Bodycode set...amazing stuff, more dancefloor-friendly than the portable material. watch out for this Spectral album...

i had no idea he moved to portugal.i just assumed he was still in london with the sudelectronic nights taking place regularly and whatnot

He's still running the sued-electronic nights in london together with lakuti. but yes, he lives now in portugal.

Body Code's material is simply outstanding .
With Body Code Alan still retains that deep real textural feel , similar to his Portable material . but with heaps more groove .
the man has such a deep understanding of rhythm . Whether as Body Code or Portable , He is one of the best live acts around .
Süd Electronic in Association with Ghostly /Spectral , will be launching his Conservation Of Electric Charge double pack , out on Spectral shortly .
This party is on June the 30th @the Departure , 2 Crutched Friars , London EC3 . He will be performing alongside , Lawrence/Sten , Jacek Sienkiewicz + more .
Should be a Killer nite !

& Alan is Currently residing in Lisbon & he is in London , monthly , to co run the Süd events .
