i think almost all digital boards suffer from this.... the failure and inability to repair is built into the design right from the first blueprints that are drawn up, and the arrogance of the company is right in the core.

if the problem isn't the PSU which is repairable by a typical skilled tech, the digital circuitry is way to complex to easily trace the exact fault, none of the parts are being made any more, and the company has stopped supporting the model and didn't make any spares. Probably the only option with these kind of designs is to replace the whole mainboard.

You might be able to find a repair company or individual who specialises in repair of this exact model, you never know what you'll find.... there's probably going to be a market for repairing these boxes... or maybe they'll just get junked.

One option is to try and find a donor unit... and maybe between the 2 broken units you can keep 1 running.

and any tech who punches a machine to magically induce repair is a fucking moron.

I had a problem with some modules that went thru the hands of more than one very skilled engineer, none of which were able to succeed in finding the fault, and the right person for the job finally got hold of them... he did fucking forensic examination to trace the fault using industrial machinary.

Punching is real world man... maybe it is just an iron filling that is messing things up... maybe it it a bigger problem... never the less people shouldn't discount a random piece of conductive material that may be conducting electricity in a manner that was not intended. Sometimes punching sh!t works... I am sure many people have a story about this kind of thing.... true that a technician should know better but knowing is the first trick... if it doesn't work then what is left? A punch is worth the effort in a pinch.

Worth taking the lid off and checking that all the ribbon cables are securely attached. Then press on all the major chips on the board in case any have started to loosen. Then replace the internal battery. I use a Nord Rack 2 (not x) and love it. Worth the effort to get this machine functioning, used, and making beautiful music. Good luck!
