stereo speakers

Post by steevio »

i was just wondering if anyone has any good suggestions for a pair of stereo speakers in the £300 -400 range.

i've been using one half of a Grundig quadraphonic system from the 1960s which i rescued from a skip (dumpster) for the last 10 years, but they are beginning to get a bit geriatric now.

i was thinking of a pair of budget end nearfields, but i'm living in an open plan place now and i dont think they would work in that space.

its just for pleasure, not monitoring

My suggestion for cheap hifi is the same as always: Don't bother with new, 2nd hand hifi stores are full of AMAZING amps and speakers for next to nothing.

Can't really recommend specific speaker brands though, it's such a personal choice.

for a hi fi set. try a set of acive Philips MFB speakers.
Imo they're pretty good.

For nearfield studio speakers i would suggest dynaudio and nothing else then dynaudio.
But that's probably just a matter of taste

I agree. The iPod-dock generation means that the second hand market is filled with cheap but quality systems and speakers.
