Hello everyone, I'm new to the minimal scene. Can I have help in understanding what minimal is to you? Some links or description in words.
I know what I hear, I would just like some input from others...
Thank you.
Minimal?
Minimal is style in almost every aspect of Art like
Architecture, Music, Painting, Sculpture etc.
It is based on reduction of the elements of the work or
use of the basic elements needed to describe/present his imagination
Minimal Techno/House is based on that, and it uses only the important
pieces of a track/melody/sound to make it work in your mind or dancefloor.
For Example take tracks of Plastikman or Daniel Bell (Because they did it in the early years of this genre)
Up to date this genre evolved and has a wide spectrum of productions.
The influence on many other styles of electronic has born subgenres so you will be a little confused in the beginning but you will recognize anything
in time.
Hope i helped you out
Ciao

I remember when i first heard minimal techno years ago, it completely changed the way i thought about music, i dont remember what the track was, but the effect was that my mind filled in the gaps that were so cleverly left in the music. I could hear sounds and feel grooves that werent actually there.Lostra wrote: Minimal Techno/House is based on that, and it uses only the important

Alot of it is to do with the mathematics of the music suggesting other possibilities, which trigger the imagination.
It's not so easy to find true minimal music, minimal has become a genre which encompasses alot of music that doesnt comfortably fit into other categories, but which is in no way minimal, so you have to look hard if you want to find the real stuff.
