Labelowners/producers watch out!!

Post by -ix »

text from another forum:

I just learned about a UK based website: http://www.jetgroove.com
that sells mp3s by many labels, including Maschinen Musik, without having licensed those tunes.

The company is based in London:

Jetgroove, LLP
Regent House,
316 Beulah Hill,
London SE19 3HF,
United Kingdom

They ripp off label of all over the world including USA, Canada, France Germany....So please check if your label was also ripped off.

I wrote a mail to the bpi antipiracy unit: antipiracy@bpi.co.uk
and also to jetgroove itself. If enough people join in, they might take notice and take some action.

Please pass on this information!!!

-----

Address and the UK locatioan are false. We've tracked down the IP of the server and it's located in Canada. The host of the jetgroove site is: Hurricane Electric

Some nice mails to: http://www.he.net/contacts.html

should take this site down quickly!!

My name is Ulukman Mamytov and I am the attorney for jetgroove.com.

I bring you apologies from JetGroove for making you worry about your copyrights infringements and your music repertoire being presented on our website. I want to assure you that jetgroove.com having started a new Online Music Download Service pursues the objective of making your music more wellknown and accessible and ONLY BY LEGAL MEANS.

That means we DO NOT SELL any of your music without obtaining a proper
permission (License) from you or other respective rightholders. You can easily check this by trying to purchase any of you music. Everything that you choose to put in your cart will have status: "Not Available For purchase Yet". It could only be put "ON HOLD". And we do not change that status untill the contract is signed and your permission is granted. In this case all of your music will be given "Allowed for Selling" status and people who have it in their shopping carts will be able to buy it.

The experince of showing your music on our website without distributing aimed to draw your attention to us, with further goal to make contacts with you on friendly terms with a perspective of mutually beneficial partnership.
We're glad to inform you that your music is getting popular indeed through our website and we can let you know at any time how many of your tracks were put on hold and which ones.

However, we deeply understand your concerns and would like to assure you, if you find our relationships impossible, we will IMMEDIATELY delete all of your music from our music collection.

Hope you'll find our offer to make your music more popular through us rather reasonable and we can start that mutually beneficial partnership.

Very Truly Yours,

Ulukman Mamytov

Aim is in the process of attempting to issue the owners of www.jetgroove.com a Russian-owned website which is advertising the potential sale of unlicensed UK indie content, a 'take-down notice'.

The website advertises a host of products from a number of UK labels when the user attempts to buy the content, they are confronted with a message that says the digital music is, as yet, unavailable for purchase. To be able to attempt to buy any downloads, users have to first pay $20 to the company.

Label owners have displayed their annoyance at what they see as disingenuous tactics employed by the site to sell product without gaining permission. Furthermore, a large percentage of the content is available as unlicensed streamed content.

Jetgroove.com contacted Aim earlier this year in order to establish an online licence. The decision to grant the licence remained on hold until the company launched its beta testing phase - a stage at which a website should not be made visible to the consumer. However, the beta version went live on the web this Tuesday and, despite continued efforts by Aim, the owners of the site remain unreachable.

A spokesman for Aim says, "We are urgently trying to get in touch with them. Although we have tried to download a number of songs, which aren't as yet available, they are advertising under false pretences."

As part of a statement issued to labels Jet Groove's legal department spokesman, Ulukman Mamytov, said, "The experience of showing your music on our website without distributing is aimed to draw your attention to us, with the further goal to make contacts with you on friendly terms with a perspective of mutually beneficial partnership."
