I didn't think they were shipping them yet?
Unless you had been to NAMM or something.

They started to ship the Tempest a few days ago.

I'm not entirely convinced by the demos so far though.

need to play with one I guess.

£1500, as well. I would pay that though, if it was all I needed for drums.

I think its best to wait untill they update it so you can put in your own samples as well.

tempest : for those who understand german > http://www.musotalk.de/video/drum-compu ... pest-test/

pretty disastrous review of the tempest, I´ve just read it.

to sum it up in english : just 4/4 bar, nothing else, and sounds are limited to 4 beats. sound bank B was missing and some buttons (playlist) doesn't do anything. you can't play patterns in a row. usb port not working. midi clock in just one direction. the reviewer says that the synth engine is awesome, but not capable to do drum sounds : no sinus and too slow envelopes. handling is very unintuitive. some encoders are with grid and some not (I don`t know how to translate "geraster" correctly). distortion and compressor are sounding "scary", what means exceptional bad. on/off switch is a poti.

that sums up what the reviewer is saying, so that`s not MY opinion (I haven`t ever played with that thing). Usualy this guy is doing decent reviews, very objective. So I feel a little bit disappointed because I thought this must be THE drummachine. But let`s wait for some SW updates and HW revisions and I believe that this toy is still turning into something cool =)

thx for the link.
didn't know this site, and although it's obviously sponsored stuff, I don't have the impression he gives biased reviews.

I watched a video of Roger Linn demonstrating the tempest a while ago, when I was still on the lookout for a drumcomputer,
and already then I felt like "hmm, wtf, too much menu-diving, not at all intuitive"
I got myself the xbase 888 a few weeks back, and although it takes a short while to get used to the interface (as with all jomox gear),
it's very intuitive to work with afterwards.
plus it sounds great.

to me, the whole point of getting a drumcomputer was fast and intuitive beats programming,
and the jomox is perfect for that job.
(if I want extra little glitchy sounds, I can use software for that on top)

another thing I don't get is the pads thing.
honestly, it might be fun to be able to hit pads for drum sounds,
but let's be honest, how good do these pads work ?
I've used several on different controllers, and other than the "hey great, actually hitting drum sounds"-factor, that's about all there is to it for me.
the velocity of pads is just crap all the time, even if you adjust the velocity parameters to your likings.
if they would have left out the pads with the tempest, they would have had more room for a more intuitive interface.

in any case, I'm glad I didn't wait for the tempest to come out and bought myself a jomox.
I still want to try a tempest some day, but I doubt I'll ever get one.
