Earplugs for studio
Re: Earplugs for studio
i would call bullshit.
earplugs dont do something magic with the music, they only reduce the output for xx db.
so if you reduce the output of your speakers the same amount, then there is no difference..
earplugs are good for enviorments where you cant control the volume.

Re: Earplugs for studio
I guess you misunderstood the purpose. afaik they mean live engineering not in the studio.
Re: Earplugs for studio
Agreed, that seems to be the purpose. Wearing earplugs in the studio would be nonsensical, just turn down the volume. Live gigs on the other hand...regler wrote:I guess you misunderstood the purpose. afaik they mean live engineering not in the studio.
I've got custom-made earplugs and no way would I use them for anything critical like engineering a band, they muffle the sound too much.
Re: Earplugs for studio
if you used earplugs, even the really good ones, your mixes would be way out. they are not perfectly natural sounding and some frequencies get through more than others.
if it's that loud in your studio you should turn it down.
