SOUNDSOLID PRESENTS : Loops Haunt, Ed Chamberlain...

Post by SOUNDSOLID »

SOUNDSOLID presents a night of all original music with producers from England and Ireland.

Spanning a solid spectrum of music from electro, techno, dubstep to just plain old beats'n'bass. The guys will be performing mainly live sets of their own material on a big Void Acoustics rig, so expect lots of unusual gadgetry and original music throughout.

LOOPS HAUNT (Black Acre, Fortified Records) aka Loops is a LuckyMe (Hudson Mo) associate heralding from the the depths of Dundee. The 23 year old producer has made many an ear prick up due to his complex, almost Autechre style take on dubstep. Heavily stretched and skewed basslines, techy rhythmic pauses and clean precise drum patterns makes for something very fresh sounding when compared to the current crop of dubstep artists.

With his already rinsed Impact Omnihammer release on Black Achre, the highly popular Rubber Sun Grenade EP on Fortified Audio & more to come on EkleKtiK, Loops is defo one to watch as the sub-genres of dubstep continue to grow. We may see this young producer heading up the more experimental and abstract sound of this current dancefloor love affair.

ED CHAMBERLAIN (Baselogic, Combat Records), electro wunderkind and resident of the Baselogic crew responsible for the infamous Bloc Weekend, Ed Chamberlain took influences from colleagues Tipper, Keith Tenniswood and Synapse and knuckled down to music production.

Within a handful of highly essential releases, he’s managed to establish a sound cherished by electronic music cognoscenti: a solid yet intricate framework of electro, filled with touches of wistful melody that give it a timelessness and sets it apart from the rest.

Tight, filtered glitch edits balance out a relentless, driving rave energy reminiscent of Radioactive Man’s chunky electro workouts.

16 HERTZ & JONWON

16 HERTZ, aka Simon Lynch, made his vinyl debut with “16 Tons” on Dublin based label !Kaboogie. Simon is part of improvised modular synthesis group ‘Push Move Click’. He makes use of modular synths and MPCs to recreate a harder edge to and more solid feel to the music. JONWON, aka Johnny Oakley, has been one of the 'regulars' in Berlin and Dublin dubstep scenes over the last three years. His solid musical background as a performer seeps into the up tempo dance floor productions he is currently busy with.

Currently based in London, both are experimenting in bass heavy electronic music. On the night they will be playing an all original live set using their MPCs and synthesizers.

DEFEKT (Newflesh Records) (aka Matthew Flanagan) has been a tireless advocate of true electro over the last number of years, steadily honing his hardware based sound that has earned him a devoted domestic fan base, and admirers all through the electro community. DeFekT released an album in late 2010 on Takeover recordings called 'Stimulus' with accompanying 12" vinyl which gained great support from Dave Clarke. Matt also works under another alias called 'ESS (electronic speech systems)' and just released a 12" ep called "Machine talk" on Umwelt's Newflesh record label.

L1R1 is a beats and bass fellow that operates out of Dublin, Ireland. Although new to the breaks and dubs scene he has been around producing music under the guise Lightyear with an electro influenced sound for some years now. Now he has changed things up a bit and is testing the water with his so called beats and bass music. He says his sound is [well low and also mellow] with a nice sprinkling of shuffled beats and bonkers snares.

BOB and COLZ, both DJs and producers from Dublin Standard crew. They are known for having an ear for the next emergent genre before it happens. They got some solid experience under their belts from running nights in Ireland since the beginning of time. They also play live radio shows weekly to a very loyal fan base.
