Timid Boy first teamed up with AMAM last year to remix a track from Tobia Coffa, and it was clear since then (and from his impressive nonstop activity since then) that we would invite him back for more! The Mandarina EP shows the Parisian producer further developing his groove-based sound with three zesty originals, plus a remix from David Labeij.

Timid Boy (nee Damien Almira) got his start as resident DJ at Rex Club in Paris, and is more recently playing in top clubs throughout Europe, having just made his debut at Berlin's famed Panoramabar in January. Besides that, he's released EPs for a spectrum of labels like Tuning Spork Records, Darkroom Dubs, and of course Time Has Changed which he co-runs.

The EP's title track is built around plenty of gorgeous percussive interplay, with distant angelic voices appearing in and out of the foreground. Then, we are treated to a drastically different version from Amsterdam's David Labeij (Remote Area), who increases the swing factor and trades the organic sounds for more synthetic ones. On the flip, Timid Boy offers "The Other Way", a darker number with psychedelic undercurrents, and as a digital-only bonus, "The New Generation" subverts typical deep house elements into something more menacing and hypnotic, sucking dancers onto the floor like a black hole. Watch out!
