Wax Treatment And Beyond!

Post by jimitheexploder »

Its kinda slow in here... so to try and invigerate things as a new enthusiastic memeber I thought it would be cool to chat about Wax Treatment. I really dig what they're doing its deep and in a world of its own. They take that UK dubstep vibe and run with it via a Berlin techno sensibility. I'd love to hear what you guys felltabout it all and about the Berlin/UK hook ups of late... I mean Hardwax bought up half of Braiden's wax recently: http://thequietus.com/articles/05532-so ... ys-greener and they always hype the UK stuff they're feeling. Scuba helps runs a killer night at Berghain, I went to a night he pretty much took over in Leeds last year with their residents + Jamie Vex'd and it was insane... Shackleton hovers about there and just killed it with an offical Fabric CD. So... what do you say people?

My fave podcasts so far are: Orson and 2562

Yeh Im really loving some of this stuff at the moment. Alot of the hardwax sound etc.. Scuba is playing here in Barcelona on Saturday which will be the first time Ive seen him play so cant wait for that!

As not a natural lover of dubstep though I do find myself only really feeling the techno influenced end of it. Loving everything Shed has done, also a few A Made Up Sound´s tracks are really cool, also Sigha is one to check also on Hotflush (Scuba´s label).

I think some of it is a little bit too Berghain influenced for my liking though. As if it has been produced soley to be played in that club. Havent checked many of the podcasts though, thanks for reminding me. I´ll check later :D

Sigha is ace yeah, we had a chat with him a while ago: http://www.sonicrouter.com/2010/08/inte ... flush.html

I'm a sucka for all this stuff, I love how it can all branch out into the more stright up house and techno sounds as well as the raw UK funky and dubstep stuff.

Right now I'm feeling Shed's alteregos more than Shed itself. The Wax, EQD and Power House 12"s are tooo much.

me too! I love this "sound" for the same reasons. The first time I heard Scuba I didn't understand why it was "labelled" dubsteb because to my ears it mixes so well with other flavors... maybe I'm just not familiar with enough dubsteb, but the tempos in this podcast for instance are certainly upbeat, rather than the 1/2 time feel of dubsteb. I love it.

Yeah Scuba is one hell of a DJ. He mixes it all up. I've heard him do really dubstep sets and I've heard him do mega melodic strung out techno sets or somewhere inbetween. A lot of the stuff on Hotflush like Joy Orbison, George Fitzgerald and Sepalcure is really melodic and compatable with techno if you pitch it right. Its just pure vibes.

Bonus post!

I couldn't seem to find a dedicated Omar-S thread to bump on a whole techno form! So here will do just fine...
