question regarding warping...anyone know how to do this????

Post by JohannDecker »

ive been trying to duplicate that effect, where a track sits on this layer of slight warping of its own signal, usually melodies or vocals (it sounds like touching the platter on a vinyl, where it goes slightly up or down)

the track sounds like its wobbling on its self...but the effected sound in the track is introduced on top of the original (or in the backround like a reverb)

can anyone help me with this??? i know it sounds vague....i think early west coast hip hop producers used it by pressing ittoo vinyl, and recording the playback as someone touches the platter to make the pitch shift up and down slightly....then taking that recording and mixing it back in with the master to achieve the effect...

anyone??

or you record a wav of the track and pitch up and down the wav until desired effect?

I think if you have a delay with a shortish delay time that has the facility to repitch as you change the time (on ableton 8 you can right-click its somewhere in the menu for all of the in-built delays), and set the wet/dry to 50/50 then change the delay time - might be what you are looking for..
