Punisher is from Detroit. That alone partly explains the incredible energy that emanates from the delicate artist. "Delicate?" some will inquire, yes delicate, but only in her size, 'cause as soon as she hops behind the decks, ferocious seems to be a more fitting term to describe her style! The greatest part of her ebullience comes from her distinctive persona: Punisher breathes life, passion and good spirits. With decades of Techno experience, she truly is the real Queen.

Michelle Herrmann was drawn to music and creation since her first few heartbeats on this globe. Inspired by the wonderful surges of artistry stemming from Detroit in the early 90's, Michelle became Punisher, first the DJ in 1993, and then the producer starting 1997. Releasing her first two twelve inch EPs on Sean Deason’s Detroit based label Matrix Records, followed by a myriad of releases over the years, Punisher has also been at the head of Seismic Records and more recently Hej Records, since 2007. She manages the latter with John Overfiend, and receives the productions of Sassmouth, Dave Powers and remixes by Maetrik, John Selway and many more. Punisher is respectful to her heritage and drives it always further into the future.

Punisher's production tools involve machines only, from sampling to sequencing. This translates into unaccountable amounts of different versions before reaching the final desired one, finally giving it all of its distinction. In Binary Dub, Punisher creates some killer low ends, applying serious dubby patterns in her synths to create a dangerously hypnotic track. Drop Air Not Bombs is quite simply a motor track. With bass engine revving up along hard panning mid-percs, the piece reaches a point of reconciliation half way through as the high notes come in. Steam Wash completes the EP as it takes the listener to a desert field in an abyss of low-pitched voices and twisted synths. The Binary Dub EP, just like Punisher, indeed is delicate in its form and ferocious in its content.
