Crazy Larry is a mysterious figure. Having escaped a 70s Hollywood movie, he successfully survived the 80s only to reemerge as a techno producer somewhere in the Wild West plains of The United States at the beginning of the new millennium. Disguised in a Peter Fonda costume, he, after installing himself in the underground of Denver, Colorado, managed to sneak into the Airdrop offices, playing freaky music with his giant moustache.

Larry is now one of the hottest deals between the two shores: after fine-tuning his amazing live PA which includes his vintage - and new - instruments, he teamed up with Pier Bucci to form Glacier, a freezy-frosty tech duo which occasionally pops up with fresh releases on Wagon Repair. It’s a pleasure to dive into what this inventive crazy hurricane of a dude is up to today though, too! During WMC '09, he hosted the Moonharbour Night, and it looks like these activities are on-going love affairs: in May, he’ll have Innervisions Orchestra and Wighnomy Brothers playing at his event in NYC, and soon, there will be a new record out on Hallucination Ltd, DJ Three’s label, remixed by his Glacier partner Pier Bucci.

And to top this off, he’s just sprung up with this crazy-ass record on Airdrop that will catapult Larry on the forefront of things, or at least secure him a slot in airline magazines and in-flight television channels. Why? Because the “Jenkim EP” is possibly the most entertaining record the label’s put out so far, a blink of irony and self-parody making this record a winner: The “LGA -> DIA”, possibly inspired by recent travels, takes off, while a female air hostess voice urges you to comply to follow instructions. Boarding the deep and bubbling hypnotic grooves, you set off, minimally bumping onto 10,000 miles height while the stewardess chatters away--making “LGA -> DIA” THE iconic track for hard-working, mile-collecting caste DJs and producers and all those who just cannot live without the steady input of hyper reality.

Jenkim is the Sh*t” is a reduced and dark, percussive work out that calls on the same hypnotic energy as the antecedent track. Unsettling, unnerving, yet rolling; this slow drifting track is gripping you subliminally and when the SH-101 keys drift in and wind of to a fluttering crescendo, there is no way back. “Jenkim” is the one: it’s like the calm before the storm. Talking about storms: Right in the eye of the hurricane wrecking the “LGA -> DIA”: Robert Dietz, known for his hit output on Cécille and Be Chosen that made him one of the most eagerly followed newcomers in 2008, takes on the remix duty, and strips the track to its elementals: Ciao vocals, hello tightness! The original, extended version of “Jenkim is the Sh*t” builds slower and even more intuitive. A truly sneaky seductive that has you dancing before you even notice what’s going on. That’s the way we like it: Crazy Larry style!

Have a safe trip!
