sound cards

Is there anyway of knowing if my laptop will need a soundcard for two audio outputs..I have a sony vaio vgnnr21j some ppl say i will some say i wont...gonna buy a midi controller nxt week so want to know if i should purchase soundcard aswell???

any help much appreciated

it wont be nessesary to buy one for just a midi controller, if you get more hardware then i suggest an external soundcard...

i would say it depends on what for wou want to use the midi controller for....
i.e. if it is for live PA, then you shall need an external soundcard...(becouse of the latency) even for just a MIDI controller....but it if is only for working at your place, then you dont necesaryly need it....
