Labels say; More house?

Post by Celltek »

A dear friend of mine is in the works of releasing a track on a well known techno label. His productions are amazing. Dark, mysterious and have a Seth-like feel to em.

After he prepared the tracks and sent them over the label they told him to make it more housey because thats what people want to hear.

He was devistated and told them no. Now it looks like the release will not happen.

WTF!!

sounds like what happened when I sent some acid techno to the stickman label...

that is (word for word) what they told me that - back in the late 90's..

looks like (its): making its way back around again...

tell him to vault his tracks - keep them

- send them to labels again ..

in 2-3 years...

Screw that label :)

Labels shouldnt have that much saying in your music, either they like it or not. "More housey", fck that.. i bet he can find a label that accept the music anyway if his productions are that slick!

You gotta have some artistic integrity!

i think he doesnt want to provoke war. but no-one can judge really without the story or label or whatever. common sense not to make mysterious and dark tracks housey.. kerri chandler is everything but mysteriou, i hope they did not have that in mind.

assuming they did fit before its silly, if they agreed on it and know the style. (and are a techno label)

of course not to make a war..

but also perhaps to share..those that are making hous(ier) tracks (could) send their material to that particular label.

which label that prefers that type of sound at the moment..

as with everything - it goes both ways..

no drama intended..

Exactly my point. Namedropping is not going to solve anything. I just wanted to share this with you guys so you know it can happen, and it sucks big time to have your sh!t trampled over like this.
