Nice places in Berlin?

Ok, so i'm planning to go to berlin for a couple of days with my girlfriend (for her birthday

)

i was thinking around 25-28 dec

Anybody from Berlin who knows some nice, not too pricey, hotels/hostels?
close to the center?
cause last time i went, i was in this hostel, but had to take like 3-4 ubahns to go to the center

and maby some nice parties around that time?

cheap restaurants?

i remember the first time i went to Berlin i was in this neighbourhood with alot of second-hand clothing shops, and cheap trendy restaurants (think it was oranienburg)

i stayed at the upstalsboom hotel in friedrichshain. was quite cheap on the expedia website.

was quite close to a good few clubs as well (watergate, golden gate, berghain etc.)

If you want it pricey, then 3 or 4 stops with the "u-bahn" aren't that far away from the center.

i found this nice hostel

looks nice, is relatively cheap and pretty close to the centre.

now have to find a cheap way to get there.
oh yea just heared from my gf's sister that she might have exams round that period.. so i might go some weeks later...

panaroma bar realy want to go there once

didn't got there last time i was in berlin

tried watergate (konrad black was playing that night, really wanted to see him) but weren't aloud because we were with too many guys

so after some walking around we accidentally landed on a festival thing called safari am zoo , was super nice, had a great time there
other days we did tresor (nice) and sage (which was also very nice, untill it became kitty kat club? or something like that

then it was time to leave

)
