watery or bubbly sounds

Post by nospin »

this is meant to be a vague question just to give me some ideas.
its hard to describe, but i occasionally hear sounds that i would describe as watery or bubbly, and i am wondering what it is that makes a sound have that characteristic?

often times i hear it and hate it, sometimes i love it... but i am looking for some thoughts to get me experimenting.

thanks

try playing a low note of a saw wave, sustained . so its more a deep repetative clicking... then route the low pass filter to an lfo

play around with resonance and other filter modes, lfo rates, depth and envelopes to make the sound evolve

I would describe this sound as like a draining sink hole.

is that what you mean? or maybe direct us a sample

Tape delay with verb on stuff can make it sound wet and drippy...

you could use the matrix of your synth to modulate the cutoff and resonance with an lfo.

this gave some real nice results. a lot of different sounds, and some good material to resample.

funny you say that.... another way to think of the sound im interested in, is if i've got some beats playing loudly in the next room, and i take a bath and dip my head underwater.... the watery muffled sounds... i cant stick my mic underwater though.

also, the sound when i lift my head out of the water, and the little clicks and pops when the water comes out of your ear.[/quote]

perhaps ableton's grain delay could help you out.
