any recommendations for a good external sound card

Post by Ingemar »

Has anyone got any recommendations or experiences about this?

I'm going to treat myself with a sound card and I am looking for an external one with 4 inputs, 4 outputs and at least one midi in/out, and
I want it to be external so I can connect it to my laptop for mobile ableton use, but mostly it is going to sit on my desk. Also in the future I am getting a midi keyboard so I would want it to work with that as well.

Ideally it would be in the 100+/-30 euro price range

cheers

uhm - you wanna get a keyboard right? most midi keyboards have their own midi interface today.
second, do you want firewire or usb?
USB i'd suggest esi u46xl or Maya44

Firewire is streaming data

USB is buffered bursts of data

FW is usually better for audio and video

check out some of the Motu products they make both
and are very high quality!!
