Working in the scene..

Post by Celltek »

Do any of you work, as a dayjob, in the music scene? I found myself wondering about what kind of jobs you can find inside the the music business and I came to the realisation that would be that be totally awesome! Lets leave out the small techno labels which usually comprise of just a few people but instead think about the bigger independent labels like Warp or K7! any thoughts, tips, do's and dont's?

Working with Media daytime, music projects is just on the side from that. DJ, Producing, Label and events. If i would live in another country i would probably be able to live by just doing stuff with music.

My mate writes for a dance music magazine. He's the clubs listings editor and does reviews of nights.

I know someone else who works for a record distributor.

you can be a night photographer, just like cobra-whatever (not cobra kai) or merlin bronque.. http://www.lastnightsparty.com

but i think it´s more better to get a 'normal' job. It keeps your mind distracted and gives you other vision of music (imo)

ive been working in the scene for about 8 years now, almost solely as a sound engineer for promoters and clubs, but most of my personal relationships are with people working in other aspects of the subculture. It can be quite exciting, but just remember that every boat can sink.
