very strange thing...

Post by michielwijnen »

Hi,

I have this weard thing goin on with my laptop (it's a HP).

I have this two creative speakers with subwoofer connected to my laptop.

Now when I start my computer, most of the time the sound I get is really "bass-heavy" and all my percussion is in the background,
but on another day when I start my computer, the bass and kick volumes are very silent, and all the rest sounds really clear.
I don't change any volume (not of the speakers, subwoofer, or computer itself).

This is pretty anoing because I never now on wich volume I have to "master" my tracks...

Anyone nows what the cause of this is??

check your wiring. and there is also a knob that controls the basslevels on the back of the sub.

also, save up for monitors. I had those creative speakers a long time ago... and a new world of frequencies opened up once I bought monitors. I could actually hear parametric eqs working! :D

yeah i definetly need some new speakers, that is true (but i do hear parametric eqing tough :))

but it's not just the speakers, if i connect my laptop to my mixer, you can hear the difference in bass level also true my big speakers, so i guess it's a laptop problem...

(should have mentioned this in the first post... dind't think about it then, didn't have my first coffee yet :))

oh of course you hear it... but trust me... you are missing so much detail and clarity. Its really hard to pinpoint frequencies on those monitors.

anyways... maybe your soundcards have different basslevels... some have advance controls for master volume and then there is a bass and trevle slider there.

it is probably just time to invest in a decent soundcard and some monitors (not to expencive tough, just a poor student) :)

Did you check the EQ of the onboard scoundcard?
Drop the idea of becoming someone else, because you are already a masterpiece.
