nice topic guys,

I'm recently very attracted to the japanese literature and especially ryu murakami. His books are very dark and extreme in describing drug and sexual experiences. On the last cover of his "Ecstasy" novel i found a very good quote to characterize Ryu's literature
"The novels of the Ryu Murakami are the japanese version of David Lynch nightmares"

I really recommend his books - all about a destroyed society pushing out the limits of modern vices.

Timothy Leary - The Politics of Ecstasy
Aldous Huxley - Heaven and Hell/The Doors of Perception
Howard Marks - Mr Nice/Book of Dope Stories
Samuel Taylor Coleridge - poetry mostly written under the influence of opium
Jack Kerouac - On the Road

hehe, my favourites from hoffmann, I' ve never thought someone would bring up Die elixiere or Sandmann on this forum. but again, it's not about drugs. :/
