Hi,
There are questions always in my mind. I basically get what minimal music is, but I find myself being confused by minimal techno and minimal house, it seems to me that most of the tracks i have listened to are rather techy than housey, but i know i must have made some mistakes. If anyone can list some tracks that nicely represent each genre, greatly appreciate.
Definition of Minimal Music?
Melchoir Productions = minimal house
Tom Ellis = minimal house (most of the time)
Telegraph = minimal house
Playhouse = minimal house
Perlon = minimal house (most of the time)
inxec = minimal techno
Heartthob = minimal techno
Audion = minimal techno
False = minimal techno
some people will say other things. for me minimal house has a more organic sound. you hear lot's of piano's and cut up vocals. It's not that important which is which.
i think it's up to whoever made it to decide what it is.

by defining it aren't we creating limits?
i think that a lot of why people seem to be
bored with current techno coming out is that
a lot of producers are continually thinking that
they must do certain things in order to create
"minimal".
i think a lot of the stigmata records by liebing are
fairly minimal. but this doesn't seem like it would
fit in with the current accepted view of "minimal".

Aslong it sounds good, it doesn't matter what genre it basically is.
Anyways, I would say that Alex Under's "Untitled 1" is minimal house (microhouse), when Sleeparchive's "Paper Cup" is minimal techno.
