paint (maybe glue?) removal from vinyl

Post by fredrik_h »

weird question, but:

does anyone know if there's any way remove paint (or maybe it's glue, I'm not sure.. looks more like tipex however) from a record?

bought a record from discogs and he stated it was "near mint"..
well it is in good condition, but my favourite track has this thing on it that makes it skip.

solution? kind of hard to figure out what to use as I don't want it to react with the plastic etc.

dont use a solvent to get that sh!t off...youll dry out the vinyl and it will start crackling

a mild solvent like Orange Clean might be the best solution, and dont scratch it out...use the softest cloth at your disposal

don't use orange clean--it'll leave a really inconvenient residue. try white vinegar. just a drop. then let it sit for a minute.
