that old monitor chestnut

Post by deadboyracer »

hello all,
I am proper poor but I desperately need some new monitors so I can actually hear what the hell I'm doing. Question is tho, do i get passive alesis monitor 1 mk 2's with the alesis RA150 amp for £200 or a pair of active yamaha HS50M's for the same price? or is there anything better in this region you can recommend?
Thanks,
sorry if this has been done to death before

i sudgest you go on and listen to your favourite album on both of those and decide for yourself. what do you think about that?

Check out these these Samson monitors for £189 or their larger brothers for £239, they both won their respected price brackets in the Future Music monitor test at the end of 2006, Ive got the larger R6As and love them best thing I bought to help with my producing.

not maybe on subject, but is there any difference in sound quality between active speakers and ordinary speakers?

yeah i was thinking what are the +/- of each. I reckon its down to what else youve got i.e active monitors have their own amps so its the pure sound of the speaker whereas passive ones will be affected by the amp you use etc.
