Hello from Detroit!
Hi and welcome!
To many European techno people Detroit has something almost mythological to it. Dunno of you are aware of this, but it is something you should definately exploit!
Like me, I grew up totally with Detroit techno, and never having been over there, just on the music, the city to me looks like the cover of the compilation "Detroit - Beyond the Third Wave": http://www.discogs.com/viewimages?what=R&obid=12086
