[Metroline Limited 002]D.Capri & A.Gentile-Downhill EP
here's Andrea & Diego's biog + press release. release date: 23/04/2007
Diego and Andrea started producing electronic music individually in the second half of the nineties. The two guys, both regulars at various parties and after parties of the Rome underground scene, became close friends and decided to join forces and start a project together.
In 2002 they started producing their very original dance floor orientated music - music with a strong hypnotic element but always evolving and full of groove. It’s always difficult to fit their productions in only one genre: techno, minimal, tech-house, deep, click...call it what you want!
After a few years spent in experimenting with their sound, in February 2006 they made their debut with the release “Minimal Configuration” on Elettronica Romana. The EP received good support from many of the top dj’s and it even got featured in Groove Magazine’s chart.
Following the success of their first release, the duo decided it was time to create something they’ve been planning for a while: a label where they could express their ideas without any limitations.
In January 2007 Doubledrop records was created with the first release called “Tricks & Tracks ”.
This new project didn’t stop the two guys from collaborating with other labels: a new EP on Elettronica Romana is on its way besides a brand new release on London based label Metroline Limited.
Downhill EP it’s collection of dark and hypnotic grooves, from the pulsating bass driven opening track Downhill with its shuffly snares creating an intricate rhythm to Primis, where the two guys use a more dry and micro approach reducing the various one shots shuffled-up sounds and infectious synths riffs.
The third track, Snowball it’s the more up-tempo and driving of the four with a funkier edge coming from its bassline. The closing track Tomato, after its minimal opening with noise efx and a rolling distant percussion, becomes more and more pulsating and groovy, one for all the dark warehouses out there!
