For me as just a listener, and not as a creator, minimal music is a music so full of emptiness that itself it makes you imagine "missing" sounds, patterns and textures.

It makes you create your very own parallel music structure in your mind while being played.

Music that only suggests, and makes your imagination do the job.

Suggests for you to imaginate.

plastikman - hypokondriak

pieces and ideas...minimal has evolved into more of a concept than a
specific sound. i hear so many records that are 'full' of sounds, but people
call it minimal just because it is slow.

i think minimal is the exploitation of harmonic interactions. it is making the
most of what you have/need.

strangley enough, i feel that anything highly "conceptual" quite often gets
the minimal tag as well. maybe minimal stands for "mindful" now.

either way, i love the stuff.

yeah, sure we all love that stuff but let's say...twerk!
ppl call him minimal and i don't see a point why should they call it minimal...his arrangements are repetative, but they evolve in the way of programming,so that can't be minimal.

maybe benjamin wild,rhythm & sound,alva noto...that could be minimal.

i see minimal in the sounds producers use...they are all obviously cut up to a microscopic lenght.

I think MNML Music it's call that way 'cause has a lot of pure, clear bleeps... but they're never 2 much... Just like in the other ways of art where mnml is present (design, plastic arts) the artist take a big concept (in the case of music spesific sounds) and make it the "big special".

I guess what makes mnml music pretty special (2 or 4 me, i don't know how 2 say it!!!) its the way a specific sound can be changed but always stay "pure", "real"... You can feel anythig: be nostalgik, feel desires, intrinsic hapiness or even suddenly know why have you felt in some way...
The clarity of the sounds, the clarity of the music... The clarity of the feelings :D

I like to think of minimal as the practice of minimalism in any kind of style. Whether it is in a form of design, visual art, music, or whatever. To me it is not a genre or classification, just a way of doing things.
