ABLETON SOUND PROBLEMS

Post by Doppio Malto »

I have a applemac G3 computer, about 0.75gb ram and 120 gb harddisk.

when using abelton, if i am running about 5/6 midi tracks, and using effects like reverb, the sound jumps or the output is just a buzz when tryin to play.

However, with only a few midi tracks, and some audio tracks, everythign works fine.

basically, what i wanna know ( which is prob very obvious ) is, do i need a better soundcard or more Ram??

And finally, Do you think a pretty high spec apple laptop (1gb ram+ )
would be enough to run programme like abelton to there full capacity?

thanks guys

You need more RAM.
I always get that too when I just start up my Ableton. but it goes away after a while.

It limits everything i do, i basically avoid reverb, and try and make up for it in onther ways, and adding pads usually fucks up

Only plus side is, it makes me try an go about things in a different way, and when i finally get a computer that works i might actually make something good

In Ableton: Options / CPU / Plugin Buffer Size

Raise the buffer size seting. Adjust it so it doesnt glitch when you have about 5 midi tracks. I wonder what the hell for you need 5 midi tracks anyway but thats just me.
