Which mp3Player do use/have ATM ?

Post by harthouse »

Hey Folks,
in the past weeks i am thinking about which portable mp3player i should buy for jogging and citylife purporses ..
For myself i think the most important thing is the music quality of the player, then the material and at last the design ..

So December 2005 i bought a bigger model with a lot of space for listening music my car ..

 It was the :: CREATIVE ZEN TOUCH ::
Image

+ long battery duration
+ very very good sound quality
+ design
+ capacity - 20GB

- weight
- not very shock resistant (microdrive)
- touchpad
- only runnin with creative app

 @ ebay around 170 EUR

After checking a lot of pages and forums where a lot of people discuss if there is an alternative for the apple nano i ordered the following player ..
BTW i don´t want to buy an iPod cause i don´t like the iTunes App .. BUT i love all notebooks from apple .. (Just using an IBM Thinkpad T60, cause a cannot afford enough money to buy an MacBook with all the stuff i wanna have in it) .. anyway i chose the

:arrow: :: SAMSUNG YP-Z5FQ - BLACK EDITION ::

+ better music quality then the iPod
+ very good battery - up to 30h nonstop playin'
+ Flash Memory - 2GB
+ Fully metal case
+ UMS (Mass Storage / platform independent)
+ integrated radio

- touchpad
- no standard usb cable

 around 120 EUR

So now i am interested in which player u currently use or have .. :D

:::::...:::.::....::..:::..::::..
keep it deep ..

Archos GMini 402, can be found at 200 euros NEW (but hurry up, I don't know if they're still produced)

+ 20 GB HD
+ mp3
+ divx, can be plugged on the TV
+ easy to use (MUCH better than my GF's xs-202)
+ built-in microphone
+ line input !!! (wav PCM & ADPCM, but no mp3 :-( )
+ master USB
+ no driver to install
+ battery lasts long (when listening to music, i don't know about video)

- no ogg
- doesn't record in mp3 (that's pretty STUPID)
- doesn't recognize my 400 GB USB HD :-(

you can also find the 402 CC which has a camera for around 220 euros...
there's also an FM radio that you can buy separately and you can also record a program in... guess what... mp3! STUPID!

OT: I use Microsoft SyncToy (free) to update my archos, very nice tool!

works fine for me, 512mb which is enough for some livesets to listen to while walking to/back from school/workout session.

not the best music quality/storage/etc, but as mentioned, good enough for my needs.

I have the first one you mentioned. You can download a firmware upgrade for it that will allow you to access it on computers without the creative software. The downside is that when you install the new firmware all the existing data stored on it will be deleted.
