I'm still kinda' trying to figure that last one out...but you will have a tougher time finding the right record shop in new york than toronto.

in new york theres halcyon under the bridge in brooklyn (www.halcyonline.com)

and

etherea, in the east village (etherea.net)

and kims on st. marks might be worth checking out.
