totally true, a real percussion master, he learned from the best in senegalkatie_m wrote:guillaume is a really good friend of mine n a great artist...his mutek record last year didnt miss a set by villalobos, matt john and many more..last year i had the chance to bring him over to athens along with david his luci partner...one day he performed solo...amazing live act with influences from gospel, soul, and then montreal micro house scene...ppl were amazed and at his other projects luci and chic miniature u cant expect nothing but quality...unique,careful selected sounds n patient work.,..his upcoming album also great...the good thing is that he moved to paris rescently for 6months and we will have more chances to see him live performing
I know that you are trying to disconnect me
Have seen them live with Akufen, and was pretty dissapointed, technically good, and lots of occasionally interesting afrobeat style stuff, but man, It sounded far too similar to sets I've heard just about everyone else play.thomasjaldemark wrote:why havent i written here before?
anyway, the man rocks.. one i defo wanna see live some day!
I think it might have been something to do with the venue, it was at the subclub in glasgow and people tend to play a 'subclub' set there if that makes sense, always ends up being pretty deep house on a kevin saunderson tip no matter who's playing.
Akufen and Daniel Bell were similarly dissapointing in that respect, had any of them played anythink like Katie is talking about - I would have loved it, but it was all just stuck in a loop deep house/afrobeat and not much else other than the odd loop which sounded like the drums from quebec nightclub occasionally.
I hope to see them again tho, these guys are too good to write off based on one mediocre performance I guess, but I was just really disappointed , I had such high expectations.
