analog and digital.

Post by BobStock »

He guys,

I hope there are some people how have a answer for this.
on http://www.uaudio.com/products/uad/xpander/index.html
i see uad announce that there is a audio DSP expansion system for Mac OS X coming out.
What I read about aud, and already know what the sound is what the plugins produce, I think it is great.
Im twisting about how hardware sound react with "soft" plugins, for the finishing touch? Anyone have experience with it?

Cheers,

I usually record a lot of analog synths in live (juno 60 and 106).
Even though the first fine tuning is always made on the analog mixing desk I process the sound even with plugins.
On the mixing desk I only can cut the bass by 75 Hz with the low cut, and sometimes it's too much, so I put an EQ, mainly waves SSL EQ to cut everything under 20 - 30 Hz, something I do all the time, because having too much stuff in this freq range it's a mess, it will lower the energy of your mix.
I compress with plugins as well, sometimes with live's compressor II but most of the times I'm using the waves SSL compressor or the waves C1.
I am quite happy with the result, still I'm sure I'll get even better results with some hardware stuff;I am saving to get a TL Audio 5052
http://www.tlaudio.co.uk/tlaudio/docs/p ... 5052.shtml
which will replace a lot of my plugins I think.
UAD suff is very good, I think you can definitively get good results.
