budget solution: active monitors. which are better?

Post by oe »

which to buy?

i have under $1000 to spend and the word is that bluesky media desk 2/1 would be a better decision in this $$ category.

what do you think? what do you use?

basically, what i want is a freq. responce 40-20k (20-20k would be better but as i understand this is far more pricey)
and the sounding to be as honest as possible

please share your thoughts/recommendations

thanks!

If you need your speakers to go that low, there aren't many other options at the price, as far as I know. They seem to be quite lovely though, should be a more than decent buy.

A friend recently bought Tapco's with 5' woofers. For pretty damn cheap... around 400 canadian pesos... I think.

Impressive little boxes I thought.

@thom
s5 responds starting from 64 hz
would that be sufficient in your opinion?

i was told around 40hz is right for proper production

Somewhere between 64 and 40 should be sufficient.

If you don't mind spending close to $1000, you could pick up a pair of Mackie HR624s for about that.
