I've just read this topic on the Rockdirect forum,
http://www.rockforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=5665
which says that if your only running one program e.g Ableton Live. it is better to have a higher powered single processor than a smaller duo process. I know that Ableton Live 6 will be duo core enabled, but when proforming live will it still work? And is it worth getting a Duo core or a more powerful single processor?
please help, thanks
Intel Core 2 Duo is it any good?
I have a 2.0 macbook pro...1 g ram...run ableton...no problems at all. much faster on my machine than my room mates....they have g4s and also pc laptops (2.6 I think, not sure I don't like windows so I don't really use windows). but on performance I ran the buffer test...at 80% I ran my buffer almost to 0 before I got and drops in audio...I think I was at 14 samples or even a little less before there were any noticable audio differences...ran the the test on some other machines and we couldn't get below 100.....even on the fastest single processor pc....Its fast....trust it...
