I have a question
deep,down and dirty...
For remixing purposes?
If the track you're getting them from has no other sounds in the frequency range of the sound you're trying to pull all you have to do is pull out that sound with soundforge or something and eq out all the other stuff you don't want to hear. There is no software that i know of that will do that job for you. If somebody knows of such a thing please let me know, it'll save me alot of time on remixing.

as far as I know the only way to isolate single instruments is cutting frequencies and EQing... adobe audition has a nice "central channel extractor", aimed mainly for extracting vocals, that works also on panning position information... but it's not perfect as one would wish... Professional remixers (with lots of money AND contacts) just asks out the original artist (or him label) for the original multitrack recordings, where every part is recorded separately... good luck anyway

Most of the editing software with EQ would do it for you. Sound forge, Adobe Audition, Wavelab ..... but it may not be as perfect as you want it to be. Te best idea is to contact the original artist of the track, and ask for the parts you need, otherwise just play aournd with these software and hopefully you`ll get what you need. Good luck
