aside from the explicit sexual scenario i'd love to see a film like this. it reminds me of a hindi film about two lesbians i saw, they are both a mans wife and they fall deeply in love. even though it means the end of them if they are caught.

Heard about the people feeling depressed because they can't live in the movie?

After a month, this movie has surpassed "cult film" status and has moved into just cult status. Sort of like scientology, with its grand themes of a better planet, a more compassionate race of people and of course, the manipulation of people and finances. Please, this is hollywood garbage at its finest. Social status and popularity have long since ruined James Cameron's creativity, and now this cliche shitpile. Oh but hey, money well spent on making pandora look like some teenage pothead's basement collection of black light posters.

I posted this on another msg board. To be honest, I have so much more to say, but I'm releasing my opinions by way of my mobile phone, and it breaks written flow easily. I apologize if some of this is really obscure.

....

Pretty soon, people will start treating avatar and their passion for it as a religion. Love for a movie has already wildly been demonstrated in the first month alone, far surpassing other cult classics like star wars, star trek, or anything else with a huge following. The script itself (of Avatar) is very surface-level and pretty boring. I've now read the entire script (free time much) and have to say this is some of the worst dialogue I've seen in a while. "Why didn't you kill me" "because I know your heart is big".

And I understand, this movie is all about the graphics and animation. Powerful Hollywood budget meets powerful storyline, changing people's outlooks on life? Sounds like a certain trendy religion based on finances....scientology. If you need to refresh yourself, Scientology is a mid50s religion drummed up by a successful science fiction novelist. Scientology dives into a mystical world filled with human-like creatures, sort of like Pandora (which Cameron ripped from a Russian scifi film that came out a few years back). Scientology teaches that people are immortal spiritual beings who have forgotten their true nature. This is exactly what Avatar is doing, and the marketing, glamour and money is right there to push it. This movie is so epic and McDonald's just wants everyone to live life with that sort of Avatar mentality. Yay respect! McRespect.

James Cameron might be the most disappointing thing to film. His films have gotten so terrible over the last 25 years it's sad. He even states in interviews that he wants to have the top 3 profiting movies of all time, and with Avatar and Titanic leading the way, his financial fantasy seems to be coming true.

While I was doing some research last night, I came across something called the avatar journal (http://www.avatarepc.com/) which was written/conceived by ex-scientologist (was banished) Harry Palmer. The avatar journal is a 3step exercise to better one's self, well in theory. In actuality it's a fraudulent pyramid scheme that earned Palmer millions of $s.

I could keep going with this, but I think that's enough.

I truly feel bad for people playing into this hyped up fictional garbage. A modern day Fahrenheit 451, complete with rejection of independent ideas but open acceptance to fictional worlds such as Pandora.

Just read the avatar forums. This is going to be a problem if people continue to let a fucking hollywood movie dictate their moods...

....

The last part is the most important, but I think all of it is pretty relevant to how people perceive the modern Hollywood movies. Anybody that has reached enlightenment from such a stale movie such as Avatar needs to reprioritize his/her life

funny how a hippie movie about smurfs with bras ends up in a cat fight on one side and an anti-mcdo protest on the other. I love the internet, it has better plot twists than any film.

Anyway, off to McDonalds. I'd go to Burger King or TGI (since it's friday) but neither are present in Belgium. Poor culture I say.
