Well I've been very busy lately so I haven't had hardly any time to work on music at all, but this is what I got done about 2 days after start.
I had fun but would have liked to add more edits and stuff.
we should do this again sometime. :)

perc 120-31- Cut off just the kick
basic- cut it up and repitched the pieces for a bassline
basic- I have no idea what I did to get the bubble sound out of this other than the obvious pitch up reverb and delay
melody115D-01- can't remember what I did to make the little 2 note loop
lighter- cut out just the talking then eq'd and resampled 4 times to bring it up to the front-oh yeah added reverb too
thumbstab- I think I just repitched it and made a loop
perc085-04- just took the open hi hat
blot- cut the little hit and reverse hit for a bit of added groove
fxsmash- short squelchy piece used as a one-hit
yoyoyo- cut 2 pieces out and re-arranged them. kinda sounds like scooby
fxelastic- short one-hit sound that works in conjunction with the other fxelastic loop
fxelastic- made a little loop with a couple bits and then added delay
amd- just cut and repitched then added delay for the little high beeps later on in the track
inout- just used it as an ending with some delay

Gosh... It is a really good idea to post the samples separately so everyone can see the work done on them, but it's way too late for me... :( Some are really different from the originals and I cannot say where they did come from anymore...
For the melodies, I have used a virtual sampler, taking some parts in both the melodic tunes and the yoyoyo voice, and then playing them through a midi keyboard...

Maybe the deadline should be extended a week to March 8?
There's been a number of people who are just finding out about
this but the deadline is tomorrow! Plus it would give people time
to do what they really want to do. I think the contest has gotten
off to a great start, but now all of a sudden the deadline is tomorrow,
so it might be nice to give another week. Thoughts?

Hi Andrew,

On the one hand, ff you're short on entries then I guess extending the deadline makes sense. On the other hand, some of the people who have entered already might feel a bit put out thinking they could have taken longer coming up with their tracks.

Personally, I don't feel too strongly about it. Mind you, even if you don't extend the deadline, we could always have another contest and give a longer time :D

cheers

Hi Guys,

Not sure if I'm allowed two shots at this or not, but even if not, I thought you might be interested ... Following an earlier post when I was talking about wanting to see if something could be done with a single one of Andrew's samples, I knocked this together last night and today.

It is a very minimal ambient piece, using the 'eatenradio' sample, stretched, squished, chopped up, layered and generally dumped in a blender. It's pretty raw, given the short time I took with it, but I kind of like the quick and dirty feel.

You can download the mp3 from:

If you prefer ogg vorbis, download from:

hope you enjoy

I forgot the track info...
so it is called "Piscolabis" and is made by Hapax, who are Cyrill Duneau (myself) and Christina Ribes.

Feedback welcome!

Very good track, ambient with a touch of drone... I like it.
