Beside the sound, that is pretty warm, there's one special thing that you cant have with a laps+pads : the really special groove of the MPC sequencer.

there's something very raw and angular about the mpc's sequencer, it's very hard to replicate on a computer.

and yes they have a very pleasing sound quality. digital can also be warm, especially 12bit sound.

if you've ever seen shadow, or cut chemist use one live, you'll hear how sweet they are.

Referring to the warm sound of a digital box is somewhat silly.
Have you ever heard of DA convertors? let alone that the MPC3000 has a preamplifier.

Yes. And due to the fact that D to A is very common (all CD and DVD players have them) D to A is a commodity. A to D is another story and so are pre-amps. The MPC is 16 bit right?

Anyway...

Arguing about the merits of the MPC sequencer probably has more meat than its D to A.

I'll post the obiligatory

MPC 1000 + JJ OS (3rd party developed operating system)

is great!!

updates for it weekly currently version 4.41

http://www7a.biglobe.ne.jp/~mpc1000/

my MMt8's havent even been switched on in months...

the grid mode is nice

as is the mute part (similar to how live works)

and any drums sounds running thru the MPC sound great!

i did not use the whole AD/DA abreviation just for convenience. what i meant to say is that AD/DA converters are a crucial part of a sampler's sound, and a preamplifier also is.

hence, referring to the warm sound of a digital box is anything but silly.
