Unfortunately this was an year ago when i have not yet a notebook to work with!
Today the v2 is installed by default and the specs are:
BPM Range 90-180 BPM
Lock-in time 2-4 Sec's (from introduction of readable beat information)
Accuracy 0.1 BPM
<< out of topic, Danilo Vigorito use redsound soundbyte
and he told that it works fine
Here's Carola with redsound soundbyte too :

hm strange. the last info i got from a musicequipment dealer was that redsound soundbyte is now manufactured by pv.

redsound hasn´t made anything new since 2002 or so. that´s why i thought they are totally out of business...

So,
how much does cost micro sinc pleas?
Thanks for all.
Mark Thompson Scrive:
Yes, you just remove the 4 rear panel screws and change a plug-in chip with a tool we supply with the V2 kit. No welding (soldering) required!
Cheers
Mark

Ok,i must open the box, manually extract the chip and replace it with the new, like the replacement of a cpu? (so i mustn't use the "welding torch").
Thanks
Mark Thompson Scrive:
Hi,
We've used the 4 main buttons along the front of the unit to access these other features - you'll receive a manual that describes all the new functions.
Upgrading the unit is simple - you just change a single chip inside!
You can only buy these kits directly from us at the price already advised, £45.00
Cheers
Mark

That thing in the pics is a looper
http://www.redsound.com/products/soundbite/index.htm
It doesn't output bpm information the way the microsync does

Instead to send the sync signal via midi to the pc it sends the sync signal to the internal processor!
The os is the same, and the work mode too...
So,if works good enought one model, works good also the other!
The knob on the looper allows you to adjust the bpm of the loop, it send no bpm info anywhere, and there are no midi connections.
The best way to do it other than tapping the bpm in live, it to have a midi controller set up to adjust the tempo of your computer. I've been doing this over the past year, and it works great, it's just like mixing another record.
I researched getting the redsound sync, but I talked with many people that said that it wasn't that good and detecting the proper bpm. If you don't have a song that looks like it has a good steady repetative beat (wave view) then it will have problems picking up the proper bpm of the track. The best example I can give you is sometime you drag a song into ableton and it thinks the track is x2 or x1/2 of the original, this will happen with the redsound.
Besides with a midi controller you'll be able to control some other perameters in ableton like volume, eqs and effects. If you don't have a midi port just get a midisport 2x2 - only $50 on ebay.
