Maybe transport issues are also involved in cases of warped records.

I usually find that standing them amongst other records, or leaving them in the middle of a full record bag straightens them out again.

I don't think you'd be able to sort them out like that, unless you stick them in the oven or something, but I wouldn't go down that road!
