Ryan Elliott’s record shop bills must be expensive. On his new promo mix, he burns through 40 tracks in 55 minutes, but the strange thing is it doesn’t feel rushed at all. Put this down to planning (Elliott is a big fan of preparing his setlists in Excel), as well as re-edits: “I edit about 90% of the tracks that I play,” he told RA recently. “The more that you can change or alter the music that you’re playing, the more original your set will be.”

And original it is. The set nods its head to the recent trend towards plain, functional house (Mountain People, Mara Trax), but there is still finds room for deeper, Detroit flavours by the likes of XDB, Planetary Assault Systems and Convextion, all blended into a seamless whole that is a fine representation of what’s happening in house and techno in May 2008. Recommended.

Tracklist

02 The Model - Terminus Interlude
