I wish people wouldn't do pop remixes. I can hear that stuff on the radio if I want. THe last thing I want to hear at a club is Billy Jean. I can go to any top 40 crap hole and hear that stuff. Its banal - defined as parroting some timeworn axiom and really, pop remixes are just that. Of course people will like it and accept it - its POP... Are our techno artist trying to become more main stream to gain acceptance? I don't feel like thats the way ultimately. But, people have to eat, right?
ok, enought negativity from me because I do like some.
Here are a few:
Heartthrob - the perculator (but was that pop or club pop?).
Villalobos has a beck remix (but it sounds like he just made a new track).
Perlon - kiss remix (ok prince is timeless).

Not strictly techno... in fact ot techno at all:
Sweet Female Attitude - Flowers (Sunship Vocal Mix)
Classic UK 2-step, bump n flex.
(interesting to think of the rhythmic similarities between the 2-step drum line and "minimal" click track of today - maybe that's why I still listen to garage when nobody else seems remembers it... oooo a bad omen for the dubstep hype methinks)
