Yes the mac pro as amazing machine but it will cost you a lot more. I know people who make amazing minimal music using a G4 power book.

If your got a mac book pro do you really need a desktop? I'd be amazed if your pushing your laptop to it's limits.

My advice save the money.

the best thing..but pretty expensive..
I make music with a powerbook g4 (1,5gb - 1,67mhz), and it works, but i have always to be careful with wich and how many plug-ins i use.. and it's a bit (a lot, sometimes) tedious .. Now i'm going to buy a new mac, maybe a macpro (or imac).. but i'm waiting for leopard...

I hope you make a lot of money from doing this. I don't think you will see much of a difference between your macpro and your mac book.

But if your got the money and it makes you happy go for it!

I'm guessing he doesn't do music for a living.

I've been thinking of getting a Macbook Pro for production, but I tend to find a lot of my favorite freeware VSTs are PC-only so...

My pc is crap in cubase 4 and ableton when I add a lot of vst and stuff.
And I have one MacBook Pro , and I can add 1000 vst and no clicking.

And I dont want to use my laptop as a producer machine , Want dual screen and stuff...so Mac Pro ;)

when I have the money, why not?
