BIOGRAPHY
Leandro Pugliese was born in Bahia Blanca: a small town south of Buenos Aires, Argentina. A music lover since the tender age of six, he started studying and playing the guitar. His love for technology and computers began at twelve years of age (1990). His family bought him a PC XT and one year later he had two different PC programming degrees. By then the guitar was meant to create music and the PC merely to make stupid useless software. Three years down the line, Lega started hanging out and investigating more about music. It was 1995 when he found some software called “Trackers” for making music. His knowledge of programming made things easier at the offset to help him produce music with this kind of software.
It was 1997 when Lega had his first real contact with electronic music, and two years later, aged 20, he decided to drop the guitar and start making music ina more serious manner. He made an album and showed it to his friend Waltie, who is now one of the most respected DJs in Argentina. Finally Lega and Waltie, together with Chetar remixed one of his tracks, and this marked the birth of Hawaii. These days, he produces under the name Hawaii together with Maxine Vegas & Waltie, while Waltie & Lucas Ferro are the ones in charge of the Hawaii DJ Sets, with recidencies in Pacha Buenos Aires and the Shamrock Basement.
While Hawaii is a primary tech house collaboration, it is as Lega that Leandro explores the minimal sound in a really high level. This particular sound exploration gave way to the alias Martin Fissher, with which he released his deeper minimal tracks. Leandro had been also been producing downtempo for a while under the name `The somnambulist´. Furthermore, he signed a deal with the labels Angora & Spleen, where he’ll be releasing music as Welstchmerz including fine female vocals performed by Julie Amadeo. Finally, Plastique Vision is Leandro’s harder and darker music.
Under the moniker of Lega, Leandro has remixed Jeff Bennett for Kung Fu Dub, released original tracks and remixes for Intrinsic Design, SCSI-AV, Immigrant and OffSide recordings and has plenty of forthcoming original tracks and remixes coming out on labels such as Iron Box, Immigrant, Beat Code, Intakt and Asymmetrical.
As Martin Fissher, he’s released a single at Arabica, and will soon be releasing two new singles at Angora as Welstchmerz (currently being remixed by Ozgur Can, Joshua Collins, Subsky, Tarkan & V-Sag, and Derek Howells) and one EP at the Spleen label.
`The somnambulist´ music had been released in different compilations, and recently some of his tracks had been signed to the Off Side rec. and Morrison recordings labels.
As Plastique Vision, he’s remixed Madoka, Oliverio, Subsky and Seyton, and has been remixed by G-Pal, MOS and Roob Mooney. Original tracks and remixes were released at Red Flag Collective, Off Side, Heavy Rotation UK, Acute, and will be followed by releases at Pissed Off, Blend and Swift.
As Hawaii, he’s released two singles at Pissed Off Digital, one at Red Flag Collective, and a 12” with remixes of the “Pure” track at Twisted Frequency, one of them having been included on Hernán Cattaneo’s latest Renaissance Masters series and the other one at Dave Seaman´s Masters Series.
Leandro has also made music to be included in television, film & and xbox game, and has produced music for commercial purposes. He also worked as a mastering engineer for different labels and producers.
Doubtlessly, there aren’t many talented producers who can substantially grasp every single style the way Leandro does. He can produce almost every genre in the electronic music department, whilst being distinguished as an innovative and eclectic producer…
