Mnml & Dubstep
yeah that's what part of me is thinking too... dnb and techno are 2 genres that have pretty much never merged and you'd have to say dubstep's roots are in dnb right? but on the other hand if i listen to something like Benjo's "Argentina Mix" then a deeper/darker dubstep mix and it really doesn't sound all that far apart.Red Kite wrote: I believe the musical roots are too fundamentally different that a serious marriage of the sounds could develop.
i'll play along with the coining of genre name: i nominate "techstep"

it already exists in d'n'b.
i could see some merging with stuff like burial. his new album is wicked. the whole concept of muted textures and futuristic approach might catch minimal at some point. the only thing which might make the whole thing gaga is the muffled bass and the ragga roots. i really don't like that.
Drop the idea of becoming someone else, because you are already a masterpiece.
dubstep has stemmed more from garage and grime and yes some of it works great with house and techno! im not so much into the more urban sounds of it, but i prefer the spacey techy sci fi sh!t coming out of dubstep. its quite hard to find tho!
shackleton is one of my fav producers at the mo, i know villalobos has a remix of blood on my hands, coming out soon, but for me the original is pure gold!
