i follow with the perlon releases, and indeed, not buying any vinyls is bold,
i only buy wicked sh!t on vinyl, simply becoz it's a historical track imo
example, the contempt from ricardo or his for disco only 2
but perlon can't escape the dance.
i think as a label, these days, you have to release digital

One thing. Don't get me wrong. I know that everything is moving digital. I am a digital kid.
save money and buy them one by one. best way. i always get crazy when i hear heaps of good tracks on kompakt, but my creditcard doesn't have enuff money to buy em all. it's easy to get broke just from buying music. crazy.

I have a different view of file sharing than most people. I condone it, in part. It's more complicated than that though... and I won't explain it all right now.

in this particular instance -
I think it's good promo... people hearing and spreading the word about it.. but the problem is that it's uncontrolled. This is more frightening than damaging I think, but there are a few dangers associated with it.

Perhaps even more frustrating is persons abusing the trust they've been given in recieving promo material. That in particular would be frustrating for me too. It's one thing to share music, but it's another to leak a promo I think.

i think this is where the paradox of it all comes around. if you share your music with close friends with whom you work its obviously (i hope) they won't share it with listeners. don't get me wrong, i'm not trying to patronise anyone. then, if you as a label send your music to the press..heh, it's absolutely positive that it will leak sooner than expected. why not send low bitrate tracks to the magazines instead?

If you can`t afford music, you have no right to take for free. People complain
about music being expensive, people bought records in Chicago/Detroit/Berlin etc 10-15years ago.

People really should start to respect music more.

point taken, but times changed alot and now when you can get almost everything for free, it's no wonder noone gives a fck. sad tho. most people don't see music as an artform anymore.

althou this might not be totaly on topic but i think it has a close connection to this thread.

David Bowie New York Times 2002.

"I don't even know why I would
want to be on a label in a few years, because I don't think it's going to
work by labels and by distribution systems in the same way," he said.
"The
absolute transformation of everything that we ever thought about music
will
take place within 10 years, and nothing is going to be able to stop it. I
see absolutely no point in pretending that it's not going to happen. I'm
fully confident that copyright, for instance, will no longer exist in 10
years, and authorship and intellectual property is in for such a
bashing."

"Music itself is going to become like running water or electricity," he
added. "So it's like, just take advantage of these last few years because
none of this is ever going to happen again. You'd better be prepared for
doing a lot of touring because that's really the only unique situation
that's going to be left. It's terribly exciting. But on the other hand it
doesn't matter if you think it's exciting or not; it's what's going to
happen."
