Well, Im sure the OGs or even the relatively new DJs(who get a lot of gigs) feel exactly the same way sometime.
Man, I am living that day right now. I totally get what you're saying, but I start to think these guys are phoning every day because I see them play a handful of times a year and it's always the same story.

Is there anything this forum does not get it's hate on for?

Personally, I don't think that this is comparable to "The Cube", at least in terms of the commercialism side. The Cube had membership cards, an actual physical object and some sort of club thing to join. There was very much a business/marketing tie in to The Cube which made the concept a bit silly.

This just seems like it's a tighter integration with the visual aspect of things. Having gone to Mutek in Montreal the past few years, I'm getting a stronger appreciation for a very well done "Audio/Visual" environment.

The high lights from this past years Mutek were mostly from the A/V series, The Atom Heart installation. Also, the Visuals during the Nocturns were amazing and really did add to the overall experience.

The music does need to come first, but a well done visual component going along with it, especially one designed specifically to that artist - really does take things to another level and adds a new dimension to the experience.

Also, so many people are getting their hate on over the move to Digital DJing saying "its taking the skill out of being a DJ" - The move to Digital and embracing technology allows for artists to open up and try new things - and stuff like this is one of them.

Yes, standing there doing jesus pose while Abelton auto-synchs their sets for them is lame - but when they go ahead and try to push into new areas / try new things, you continue to hate on it?

There is a time and a place for a pair of 1200s and a dark basement with a single strobe light - and there is a certain appeal in that type of vibe also, but there is also a time to move forward, try new things and incorporating new elements into things.

If you keep holding onto the past like it was the golden-age of techno - things will only stagnate and die.

tbh i dont see what the fuzz is all about, he has tried to do things like this a few times before (narod nikki, that gig in club der visionaere,...). he just added some guys who make clever visuals to his idea of live improvisation with electronic music, how the hell can u bitch on that??

i think we all agree that good visuals can add something extra to a party and just because cadenza does it, it suddenly became richie's pube? its not like luciano is putting on his startrek suit and is gonna mix colours instead of records now ....

+1

I associate a lot of records I have on vinyl with the colours of the artwork, and the shapes on the sleeves... so associating different colours with different sounds/instruments doesnt sound so strange or commercial at all to me.
