thats exactly it! they even admitted it themselves. Why sell a Ferrari for the price of a casual car... Its so fucked up really...

is it full cover artwork?
heavy vinyl?
how many do they press?

if its 300 then they are sure to lose money if they sell to the shops ar say the normal price of about £2.75.

double the price is way more then covering costs, also no one forces them to make 300, they also could make 500 and it would sell easy. especially for half the price..

little example:

pedros Pi-ensemble stuff , the first vinyl was for 8,39 € on decks, the second for 13,79, same artwork same vinyl quality.
now this release costs 18 euro.

hello everybody,

just wanted to let you know that Traversa is already out of our stock, so be quick if you want to catch the remaining items on juno, decks, musichead, kristina records, fatplastic and freebase. this information alone could very well close the whole price discussion but still there are some clarifications to be made.

first of all, we pay very close attention to everything that comes with the ep's we sell. that means music, artwork, packaging. also, most of the labels we work with have chosen to make 300 copies / EP. this makes it so hard to make a profit for the label, that they have really never taken this into account.

second, ourown is based in romania so we ship from romania, we fly from romania, we like romania. shipping costs are bigger of course, but on the other hand so are those for labels from japan from example. it makes perfect sense, we know.

we know there are a lot of cheaper vinyls out there, but we also know there is a lot of cheaper music out there as well. people who drive an opel astra and dream about a ferrari never say a ferrari isn't worth it's money, just because they know what's under the hood. so comparison between our products and other 5 minutes ableton bomb tracks pressed into 2000 vinyls are just not fair. not to say we are the ferrari, but we dream we can be, and that makes all the difference.

some of you pay 50 euros on discogs for a VG record that you can't actually play, but are so reticent to pay 15 euros for a mint disc that they really enjoy. not once you have given a moment to think, that those who make the profit are not the label owners, but the one who will sell the disc 2 months later on discogs for double the price. that beeing said we have already imposed on juno to sell only 2 copies per customer so let's hope that won't be a problem. we have no doubt that 300 people will really feel special having this beautiful record.

and why did the first records of arpiar sell for 8-9 euros. and the first understand for 12,99 ? and know its 18 euros?

True.

I think their strategy is increasing the prices to differntiate their stuff from the rest. Like the said when you buy a Ferrari you expect to pay big money. Well the case is that not everything they release sound like a Ferrari to me.

And yeah, they probably would press more stuff and sell them anyway, but maybe part of the strategy is these limited runs to create even more hype around the music. You miss it and you are screwed.
