I don't think Mr. Sims is referring to quality minimal trax.
He's talking about the commercial "minimal" with the same claves, reverb, toms, etc. that so many of his contemporaries are now trying to imitate. Are they on a mission to dumb-down techno or something?

Any real artist should find this offensive.

It's no different than the mid-90's when minimal producers sold out to hard techno and filter disco. There will always be those who fear their sound becoming stale, but staying the same is always better than being a copycat.

Which makes the fb group even more meaningless and trite. You could replace minimal with anything and could debate its truth...simply by saying "oh well I'm referring specifically to the dumbed-down, less artistic *blank genre*, not the good *blank genre*

If he can rant I can too!
