The issue with that he had with the synth was that the sound was too raw. so it sounded like sh!t. Its like a subtractor in reason.
Sucks alone but sounds quite a bit better when you put a proper filter on it. Effects help too.

It doesn't take long to put together. I put one up in about a week, but I have some experience. I would try out some soldering on a couple of toys first, so you don't mess up your unit.
As for the Doepfer unit, I just sold most of my A-100 off because I needed some cash. I've never used an R2M, and it will not effect the sound of your Paia unit. If the "raw" sound is too much for you, wetten it up with a Lexicon PCM-90!
